Policy

When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile photo. When you add a WhatsApp number to your profile, we store that number. When you post a listing, we store the listing content including title, price, location, description, and any photos you upload. We also collect standard usage data — pages visited, listing views, and device type — to understand how the platform is used.

We use your email to send you transactional emails: account confirmation, listing expiry warnings, and confirmation prompts. We use your WhatsApp number solely to make it available to seekers who enquire about your listings. We use usage data to improve the platform — identifying broken flows, popular features, and performance issues. We do not use your data to serve you personalised advertising, and we do not sell your data to any third party.

We do not collect payment information — EasyOwn has no paid tier requiring card details at this time. We do not track conversations that occur on WhatsApp or any other channel outside our platform. We do not collect your national identification number, BVN, or any financial account details. We do not install tracking cookies beyond what is strictly necessary for authentication and session management.

We send transactional emails only. These include: account welcome emails, listing published confirmations, and the 30-day availability confirmation prompts that keep your listings active. We do not send marketing newsletters unless you explicitly opt in to one in the future. You can contact us at hello@easyown.ng to request that we stop sending any type of email.

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure hosted in the EU (eu-west-1 region). We use row-level security policies to ensure each user can only access their own data. Passwords are never stored — authentication is handled entirely via Google OAuth or magic links sent to your email. Photos are stored in Supabase object storage with public read access so listings display correctly, but only you can upload or delete your own photos.

Listing content — title, price, location, photos, and description — is publicly visible to anyone who visits EasyOwn. Your display name, username, role, WhatsApp number (if added), and verification status are visible on your public profile. Your email address is never publicly visible and is not accessible via our public API. If you want to make a listing private, archive it from your dashboard.

We use the following third-party services to operate EasyOwn: Supabase for database, authentication, and file storage; Resend for transactional email delivery; Google OAuth for sign-in. Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data processed on our behalf. We have chosen these providers because they have strong data protection standards, but we encourage you to review their policies if you have concerns.

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct inaccurate data, and to request deletion of your account and associated data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@easyown.ng. We will respond within 14 days. Note that deleting your account will remove your profile and listings from the platform, but may not immediately remove data from our backups — this is cleared within 30 days.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days except where we are required to retain it by law. Listing data may be retained in anonymised form for platform analytics after deletion. Confirmation token records are retained for audit purposes for up to 90 days after use or expiry.

EasyOwn is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us at hello@easyown.ng and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the platform evolves. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use of EasyOwn after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
